The rock legend Ian Gillan is coming to Hungary for one unique concert with the songs of Deep Purple. The musician with his haunting vocals is going to present an amazing show! He will play on one stage with the musicians from Don Airey Band and the Art Anzix Orchestra conducted by Stephen Bentley-Klein. With great hits such as “Smoke on the Water”, “Black Night” and “Perfect Stranger”Gillan will rock the stage at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna. The support band for the show will be Papa Le Gál.

The talented musician was born in Hounslow, England. Gillan’s unique voice is instantly recognisable. In early days he was heavily influenced by the young Elvis Presley, as well as Little Richard, Buddy Holly and others of that dynamic era. During his formative years he absorbed the wide range of musical genres that were flooding Britain in The Sixties.

Ian Gillan met Roger Glover when he joined the harmony group Episode Six in 1965. They learned their trade touring with Dusty Springfield and performing five shows a night – eight on weekends. Gillan joined Deep Purple in 1969. At this point, the group entered its most popular period, and the rock musician was featured on a series of successful recordings – “Fireball”, “Machine Head”, and “Who Do We Think We Are”.

Gillan played the interpretive role of Jesus Christ in “Jesus Christ Superstar”, the original London studio recording. He broke new ground in the ‘80s with his famous tours in previously unexplored territories. The musician also played the role of Charles Darwin in the Bolland and Bolland recording, “Darwin - The Evolution”.

The rock legend has twice duetted the aria “Nessun Dorma” with Luciano Pavarotti. Gillan is still performing to sold-out audiences in major arenas all over the world – 48 countries last year - with Deep Purple and as a solo performer. We will have the unique chance to see Ian Gillan’s amazing show in Budapest this November.
